Ring Ka King Thread

PostPosted by MarvelousMe » Mon Jan 30, 2012 9:18 am

"Ring Ka King (lit. King of the Ring) is a professional wrestling promotion based in India, which is owned and operated by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). Filming for the promotion's television product began in December 2011 with the backing of Endemol and is set to debut on India's The Colors Network on January 28, 2012.

Jeff Jarrett is in charge of the promotion, working alongside Dutch Mantell, Dave Lagana, Sonjay Dutt and Jeremy Borash. Savio Vega is responsible for training the Indian talent at Ohio Valley Wrestling."

Basically, Ring Ka King along with OVW can now be considered developmental Territories for TNA. Ring Ka King in particular exists to help expand TNA's international market as well as breed new talent that could potentially be brought up to TNA's main roster. However, TNA is still an infant company, therefore to compensate for the lesser known talents of India, TNA sent a few of their own talents to participate in the show as well as acquire the assistance of other well known global talents such as Chavo Guerrero. TNA has made a shitload of bad business decisions in the past. This is not one of them.

If anyone is interested, I can post the episodes weekly. Its always nice to have some influence from outside cultures when watching a wrestling promotion. Seeing how this is the first episode and this is one of the few times a wrestling promotion has ever been in India, the intro is quite long. Skip to 23:34 if you just want to see some in-ring action. The show does air in India, but it would be helpful if they added subtitles to those not familiar with the language. The crowd looks like their having fun at least. Way more into the product than the Impact Zone. Enjoy.

I'm halfway through the episode (before the first match starts). It's burnt in the most awesome way possible. I'm seriously considering bringing my wrestling blog back just to review this.

Apologies in advance. Been busy with work and life and all that. I had no idea how fast this show was moving. I believe they are already on episode 6, so we have a lot of ground to cover. Instead of just posting all of the episodes, I will just post every other day until we have caught up. I think a two day span is enough time for most to catch up on an episode. Anyways, this show is doing very well in India and actually has higher ratings than Impact itself. The India fans are far more into the product, and several new talents such as Magnus are really starting to perfect their craft. The only bad thing so far is they still have not added subtitles. Enjoy episode 2.

Ring Ka King RECAP! By ILMH.
So I got drunk and watched the latest episode of Ring Ka King last night. I fucking was confused as balls. It seemed very over the top and awful.

BUT, to be fair, I just watched it completely sober to make sure that I wasn't hating for the sake of inebriated bias.

This sucks. here's what happened on this show.
-Show opens, and we are treated to a ladder match. Between Sonjay Dutt and a Midget Pimp. I'm not lying. It's a midget. So they a ladder match, with the prize being a giant pair of golden wings. Sonjay squeaks out the W. It's like a Hornswaggle, except your attempted to be lead into thinking the Midget Pimp is going to win.

-Next up, Scott Steiner and Abyss take on the Mumbai Cats. What action. I really thought that the Mumbai Cats had it. But god damn Steiner and Abyss bury them! Then it becomes a 2 out of 3 falls match, the Mumbai Cats are going to cath up and show th... oh, the second fall is even more of a squash.

-Jeff Jarrett promo! He's wearing a blindfold! he punches RDX Lawyer (actual name) in the nose to hilarious results.

-Jarrett throws out an open challenge where he'll fight wearing a blindfold. Some Commisioner guy with a bitching handlebar mustache comes out. Jarrett wins, maintaining the blindfold the entire match. Burial! Awesome! At least commissioner ate a guitar shot.

-RKK Champ Brutus Magnus defeats a jobber who was drawn at random for a title shot. Match is about 30 seconds long and I think was being used as filler.

-Morgan, Chavo and some other guy come out and call them out on the rigging of the draw. Brawl ensues. End show.

Notes:
-I am not embellishing anything. I am saying EXACTLY what happened. For fact.
-Some sumo guy came out at the end of the epic ladder match and sat down at the top of the ramp on a bench that was there. For the whole show. Nothing happened with him. He just sat and chilled.
-The crowd was hot, but that doesn't mean that the product is good. It just means that India has had little to no exposure to Wrestling. Or that they are into really shitty wrestling and storylines.
-The set is actually pretty badass. I like the vibrancy and the use of the multiple video screens throughout. But that can't save this horrendous show.
-This was not better than Smackdown.

Just watched Episode 21!

It was shit!

Smackdown was better!

Lulz.

(Seriously, I'll keep watching to make sense of SOMETHING, but so far, this is fucking trash. 2 matches in an hour and some fat guy.)

Things better than that (or any, that I've watched) episode of Ring Ka King:

  • Diarrhea
  • Walking home three miles in the rain
  • The 2011-12 Charlotte Bobcats
  • WWE Tag Team Champions Primo & Epico
  • That awful feeling of needing to take a dump directly after showering
  • Entertainment Tonight
  • The life of a male angler fish
  • Red Sox fans. Barely.

Great news gang! I just watched episode 22! It fucking sucked.

I can't believe at how useless yamamamamotoyamayama is. AM I RIGHT?

Seriously, does ANYONE else watch this? It is fucking atrocious. When you think that TNA is WCW2000.... you're wrong. RKK is WCW2000. i don't know what kind of retard would enjoy this pile of garbage.

Hey, I'm halfway through episode 23! And it's had one match. One match. And it was a botcheriffic garbage women's match.

But hey, we get a whole lot of promos in a language i don't know! This is AWWWWWWEEEESSSSOMMMME. (by that, I mean it's still worthless garbage.)

Still waiting for someone to stand up for this. Anybody. Marvie? Chui? ANYBODY.

EDIT: Alright, finished ep. 23. Bollywood Boys won the doubles tag titles in a gem of a match. Spoiler: The match sucked.
