Man Dies After Wrestlemania Horseplay

DESTREHAN, La. (CBS Houston) – A 24-year-old is dead today after horseplay reenacting WrestleMania got out of control.

Stephen A. Arceneaux III, of 9614 Red Church Lane in Destrehan, was pronounced dead at St. Charles Parish Hospital at 10:39 p.m.

St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne told the Times-Picayune that Arceneaux joined friends in front of a television on Murray Hill Drive to watch the World Wrestling Entertainment’s “Wrestlemania 28.” That’s when his 14-year-old cousin allegedly wrestled him on an inflated mattress.

The juvenile, who is 5-foot-6, put his cousin in a rear-naked choke hold, commonly used to force opponents to quit matches or lose consciousness. From behind, the juvenile placed the forearm of one arm around his cousin’s neck while pushing on the back of his cousin’s head with his other arm, cutting off air supply while he hanged from his cousin’s back.

Witnesses reported that Arceneaux said he would not give up or “tap out,” since many wrestlers tap out as a last resort.

Arceneaux’s chance came and went too soon, though. A witness noticed he had turned blue and stopped breathing entirely.

While his girlfriend tried CPR, an ambulance rushed over just after 10:00 p.m. to transport him to St. Charles Parish Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is continuing. No arrests have been made.

Side note: funny they called it a rear-naked-choke.

For the matter at hand, another shitty situation build from idiots going too far while playing around, I'm sure that all of us have broken the "dont try this at home" rule once or twice but theres a line and it was clearly crossed.
