Watched: AR Fox vs. Lucky tHURTeen CZW Ascension 2013 1/12/13

Good high flying match. It was helped by the fact that it didn’t go too long and that everything was hit crisply. The only reason I’m not listing it is that it was devoid of selling especially the DDT to the concrete.

Watched: Jimmy Jacobs vs Adam Cole ROH Hunt for Gold 2013 1/18/13

Good match although lacking a story. I don’t know if I would say that this was like the old ROH because I don’t think you can ever go back to what you once were, but the crowd seemed really energized.

Watched: American Wolves vs Briscoes ROH Hunt for Gold 2013 1/18/13

Whole lotta nothing for a long period of time.

Watched: Roderick Strong vs. Silas Young ROH Hunt for Gold 2013 1/18/13

Total nothing match.

Listed: Ricochet and Rich Swann vs. Young Bucks PWG DDT 2013 1/12/13

Very freakin good. This is everything you would expect with the Bucks being cheating scumbags and the ICMGs flying all over the place in about twelve or so minutes. #1 obviously.

Watched: Super Smash Bros vs. Brian Cage and Michael Elgin PWG DDT 2013 1/12/13

Good little match that was killed by Uno separating his shoulder on a dive and being useless for the rest of the match. Before that you had the usual cool power moments with Cage and Elgin, but other then that we didn’t get that epic finishing run.

Watched: Eddie Edwards & Roderick Strong vs. Future Shock PWG DDT 2013 1/12/13

Didn’t get good until the end. Kyle sucked and Eddie wasn’t on this match. The beginning with Cole and Strong was hilarious however. Still the worst match I’ve seen so far.

Watched: Brian Cage and Michael Elgin vs. Young Bucks PWG DDT 2013 1/12/13

Wasn’t really thrilled with the leg work. Not that Cage didn’t sell it for the most part, but the work didn’t really work for me. The cool power spots came later on, but they kind of lost me at that point. The finish was an obvious illegal pin.

Watched: Sami Callihan vs. Drake Younger Submission or KO PWG DDT 2013 1/12/13

Way better then there last PWG match. Just shorter and no overkill. Still the same Drake selling in that there isn’t any. And because of that, a lot of there matches in this feud are good, but not listable. This was no different.

Watched: El Generico and Kevin Steen vs. Young Bucks PWG DDT 2013 1/12/13

Generico’s last match in the Indies. :( Not that good of a match honestly. Too much nondescript brawling and Steen as a face just isn’t as interesting as being a heel.

Watched: Silas Young vs Adam Cole ROH Defy or Deny II 1/19/13

Fine short match with a pretty hot crowd. Nothing outstanding however.

Watched: Steve Corino, Jimmy Jacobs and Rhino vs Briscoes and Lethal ROH Defy or Deny II 1/19/13

Decent tag but not that memorable.

Watched: Davey Richards vs Kyle O´Reilly ROH Defy or Deny II 1/19/13

About as horrible as I envisioned.

Watched: Kevin Steen vs Michael Elgin vs Roderick Strong vs Eddie Edwards Elimination ROH Defy or Deny II 1/19/13

It had moments, but just ended up being disappointing.

Watched: Matt Taven vs ACH ROH on SBG 2/9/13

Showcase match for both. Fine for what it was.

Watched: Christopher Daniels vs. James Storm TNA Genesis 2013 1/13/13

It was ok. Daniels did some good arm work and none of it was sold. Pass.

Watched: Jeff Hardy vs. Austin Aries vs. Bobby Roode Elimination TNA Genesis 2013 1/13/13

Good match. The story of Roode and Aries teaming up on Hardy was fun and they did it in a way where it didn’t feel like overkill. If it didn’t drag at points and the crowd was more amped when Hardy wasn’t in it, then maybe I could list it. But, no.

Watched: Samoa Joe vs Kurt Angle TNA Impact 2/14/13

Could have been worse I suppose.

Watched: Party Marty Scrull and The Blossom Twins vs Tara, Jesse and Gail Kim TNA Impact 2/14/13

Perfectly fine showcase for the women with nice hot British crowd, but nothing more then that.

Anything from the ROH 11th Anniversary show? I haven't seen it, but wanted to catch your opinion on the matches.

Four matches recommended by the IWC, no idea if any of them are good. Have to look for the show. There is also a house show called Honor vs Evil with four IWC recomended matches which may not get released until later in the year with my luck. Still not feeling the love for Delirious age ROH yet. Also have a lot of WWE I have to review.

I didn't realize Delirious was back on the book. Or rather, I forgot.

You know what fuck it, I'll review the whole thing.

Watched: ACH vs. Adam Page vs. Mike Sydal vs. QT Marshall vs. Silas Young vs. Tadarius Thomas ROH 11th Anniversary 3/2/13

Damn good short match. Not enough substance there to be anything more, but it did it’s job.

Watched: Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander vs. Jimmy Jacobs & Steve Corino ROH 11th Anniversary 3/2/13

Another good match. Not a whole lot of note except a really fun finishing stretch and some generally good tag wrestling.

Watched: BJ Whitmer vs Charlie Hass ROH 11th Anniversary 3/2/13

Decent garbage brawl I guess. Kind of by-the-numbers and the finish was way too abrupt.

Watched: Alex Koslov and Rocky Romero vs. American Wolves ROH 11th Anniversary 3/2/13

It was kind of entertaining in the beginning, but then got embarrassingly bad after that. Just no chemistry which doesn’t make sense considering the NRC past.

Watched: Michael Elgin vs. Roderick Strong 2/3 Falls ROH 11th Anniversary 3/2/13

It was good, but it lost its momentum by the third fall. I would have been happier if Elgin won it two straight.

Watched: Adam Cole vs Matt Taven ROH 11th Anniversary 3/2/13

This…happened. It was mechanically fine, but like the rest of the show, this doesn’t really have much substance to it.

Listed: Briscoes vs. Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish ROH 11th Anniversary 3/2/13

Match of the Night so far. Had some surprisingly decent leg work and pretty good selling from one of the Briscoes which you never expect. Is it listworthy? I say yes barely, although it is not something that is better then the PWG match or something that will be top 20 by the end of the year. #2.

Watched: Kevin Steen vs. Jay Lethal ROH 11th Anniversary 3/2/13

It felt like a bunch of soulless brawling. The only thing of note was the final angle of the show. I give the show a B just for not having any terrible matches minust the Wolves/Hooligans match.

Watched: Dolph Ziggler vs. John Cena WWE Raw 1/7/13

It was a perfectly fine formula Cena match, but the fact that Ziggler emptied every move out along with Langston’s finisher and still got pretty easily put away was bullshit.

Watched: CM Punk vs. Ryback TLC WWE Raw 1/7/13

Good, but more no selly then I remembered. Especially when Ryback had his foot worked over Punk carried the match, but I didn’t think it was a good idea to do any limb work.

PostPosted by jman9 » Sat Mar 16, 2013 2:27 am

Watched: Dolph Ziggler vs. Sheamus WWE Main Event 1/9/13

Same old perfectly fine Ziggler match I’m used to seeing. Sheamus was kind of there and the match didn’t really have anything of interest.

Listed: Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show Last Man Standing WWE Smackdown 1/11/13

This on the other hand was very good, although I struggle to call it a MOTYC. The story of David vs Goliath is there along with Show’s arm being targeted when Show isn’t dominating Del Rio. Show took control for the right amount of time with the match ending exactly when it should have. It does lack that “Holy Shit” moment to really take it to the next level, but I still liked it. #2.

Watched: John Cena vs Dolph Ziggler Cage Match WWE Raw 1/14/2013

For a formula cage match, it was actually good, but with even more aggravation as the match last week. And then it hit me, Ziggler is essentially a better version of Chris Jericho. He refuses to retire any of his previous finishers and thus the more he empties out on Cena, the worse he looks in the eyes of IWC. Still he got beat with one AA which is even more bullshit.

Watched: The Big Show vs Alberto Del Rio Last Man Standing WWE Royal Rumble 1/27/2013

Good sequel. Had some callbacks to there Smackdown match, but didn’t establish the “attack the arm” strategy until the end. The Smackdown match also went the proper amount of time.

Watched: Eddie Kingston vs Green Ant Chikara All the Agents and Superhuman Crew 2/9/13

Good little niggling affair. Good job in putting over the specialties of both wrestlers with GA’s subs and Eddie’s strikes. Eddie did some good midsection work, but it was kind of forgotten by the end. Eddie’s leg selling was tremendous as usual. The ending sucked with a shoehorned run in to promote Steen/Eddie. That prevent me from listing it.

Watched: Royal Rumble 2013 WWE Royal Rumble 1/27/13

I feel this was better then the 2012 match. Not many bad entrants minus Khali and a really good finishing run but not many storylines playing out or really outstanding moments. Good, not great.

Watched: CM Punk vs The Rock WWE Royal Rumble 1/27/13

I thought this was a damn good Punk carry job. Punk was incorporating midsection work and was generally awesome at that, but Rock didn’t sell it. He also fed Rock comebacks on his hurt knee. As far as whether Punk was damaged during this match, the answer is no. Punk dominated him for most of it while getting hit with Rock Bottom on the floor, a spinebuster, and the Spinebuster/People’s Elbow combination which has always been his finisher back in the day for the record. I just think minus his punches that it was a bad Rock performance.

Watched: 3.0 and Gran Akuma vs. Kevin Steen and Young Bucks Chikara All the Agents and Superhuman Crew 2/9/13

Pretty crappy. Just couldn’t get on the same page.

Watched: Hallowicked vs Chuck Taylor Chikara All the Agents and Superhuman Crew 2/9/13

This was ok, but I was expecting more.

Watched: Archibald Peck vs. Mark Angelosetti Chikara All the Agents and Superhuman Crew 2/9/13

This was… something. I thought it was a good match in the constraints of the Chikara universe. If you don’t know the stories, it is the most ridiculous match ever. I can’t go full on with saying that it is weirdly great.

Watched: Mike Quackenbush, Hallowicked & Frightmare vs. Jigsaw, The Shard & deviANT Chikara While the Dawn is Breaking 2/10/13

Good trios match. I wish the execution of the match had come off more cleaner, but I still enjoyed what I saw. I will say deviANT is way better now then in the past.

Listed: Eddie Kingston vs. Kevin Steen Chikara While the Dawn is Breaking 2/10/13

This may have been there best match yet. Somewhat similar to there match last year in Chikara, but with an actual finish. Steen is a dick and destroys Eddie’s leg, and Eddie sells like a god. Awesome slugfest, but I wish the crowd was better. But I’m still going to say MOTYC and is #1 right now.

Watched: Young Bucks vs 3.0 Chikara While the Dawn is Breaking 2/10/13

Better 3.0 match then I thought it would be. Jagged stepped up, but Matthews is still annoying. Perfect good formula Bucks match.

Watched: AR Fox vs. Rich Swann CZW 14th Anniversary 2/9/13

Good match as expected. Swann decided to ground the match which I thought was unnecessary since it didn’t go too long, but the spots were spectacular. Fox’s selling is still questionable at times which makes me give this a pass.

Watched: Alex Colon vs. Drake Younger CZW 14th Anniversary 2/9/13

It was ok. Didn’t really take my breath away.

Watched: AR Fox vs Azreial CZW Wanted 3/9/13

Another good Fox match although I thought Azreial stood out more in this one. I think the face/heel dynamic tends to cater to Fox’s strengths better. Still, it is another match that I can’t go all in on.

Watched: Sami Callihan vs Jimmy Jacobs CZW Wanted 3/9/13

Too long. 20+ minutes is not the amount of time I want to see Sami. Especially Jacobs who falls into that same category. Disappointed.

Watched: CM Punk vs Chris Jericho WWE Raw 2/4/13

Another fine carry job by Punk. Punk was in full on prick mode trashing Jericho. Neck work didn’t go anywhere and degenerated into another Jericho match although more tolerable then usual.

Watched: Alberto Del Rio vs Dolph Ziggler WWE Main Event 2/13/13

I was expecting more from this. I was expecting more focus in this, but it ended up being more of WWE movefest.

Watched: Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show WWE Elimination Chamber 2013 2/17/13

This was a decent match with a really big botch in the end. Doesn’t have the story to tie it in together.

Watched: Mercedes Martinez vs. Amazing Kong Shine 6 1/11/13

I thought Mercedes was the one who made it as good as it was. She did a damn good job of bumping, selling for Kong, and building the match up. Shitty finish and I could barely hear the final pinfall.

Watched: Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho vs. Jack Swagger vs. Mark Henry vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Kane Elimination Chamber WWE Elimination Chamber 2013 2/17/13

I’ll say this, I don’t think anyone was bad in this match. Yet there wasn’t really anything outstanding in it. Sure I loved Henry wrecking shit and his double suplex on the steel was crazy, but it felt like no one was really killing themselves in it to make it something more like Dolph, Kofi, or Punk. Swagger did a little of that, but the rest weren’t really having any of it. Good, but not great.

Listed: Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins vs. John Cena, Ryback & Sheamus WWE Elimination Chamber 2013 2/17/13

Brilliant tag match, but not MOTY worthy. The Shield looked like a million bucks totally dominating the top faces of the company. The Cena control section was a bit too methodical at points, but the hot tag and finishing stretch was awesome. Del Rio/Show had the better, so this is below that. #4.

Watched: CM Punk vs. The Rock WWE Elimination Chamber 2013 2/17/13

This was worst then there last match. This reminded me of the Jericho/Punk Wrestlemania match from last year. I just couldn’t but it especially early on in the match. Oh and the match was mostly chin locks and uninteresting ones at that. I can’t even complain about the bullshit in the end because it wouldn’t have made the match better either way.

Watched: Naomi and Cameron vs Alicia Fox and Natalya WWE Superstars 2/23/2013

Legitimately good divas match. All four were good in the six or so minutes this got and did some really surprising sequences especially after the hot tag. If you need to see a divas match, this is the one to see. However, I don’t have the guts to list it.

Listed: CM Punk vs John Cena WWE Raw 2/25/13

Best WWE match this year so far. This is two maestros at work who know how to do the epic especially hitting stuff that you don’t see in today’s WWE. People will complain about Cena no selling some offense that he shouldn’t. The corner knees I can live with, although the counter after the GTS was a bit ridiculous. This is still these two and is a MOTYC. #1.

Watched: Tadarius Thomas vs Jay Lethal ROH Honor vs Evil 2/16/13

At times good and at times a mess. Thomas has some good offense, but his head is not in the game at points and gets lost. The finish was badly botched.

Watched: ACH vs Roderick Strong ROH Honor vs Evil 2/16/13

Pretty good. ACH proved between him and Thomas why he was the better flippy black dude with his selling and connection with the crowd. Strong didn’t really give him enough of an assbeating to really put this over the top.

Watched: Kyle O'Reilly vs BJ Whitmer ROH Honor vs Evil 2/16/13

Actually got quite good in the end. It’s just too bad at times that Kyle’s stuff looked really weak against Whitmer.

Listed: Adam Cole, Davey Richards & Michael Elgin vs Kevin Steen, Jimmy Jacobs & Steve Corino Elimination ROH Honor vs Evil 2/16/13

You know what, fuck it, I thought this was very good. The match is close to 40 minutes long, but everybody showed off there strengths as opposed to there weaknesses including Richards. If this had a better crowd, I could see this getting more love, but this ended up being better then I thought. Not a MOTYC or anything. #6.

Watched: MsChif vs Mia Yim ROH on SBG 3/9/13

I like both these ladies and all, but I have no clue why this was recommended especially after seeing that Divas tag earlier in the day.

Watched: ACH and Tadarius Thomas vs The American Wolves ROH on SBG 3/16/13

ACH really made this match as good as it was with his hot tag and energy. The others did fine as well, but it is not a classic or anything.

The crowd liked this more then I did. It just felt like it was going in slow motion.

Watched: Fire Ant, assailANT, Dasher Hatfield, & Saturyne vs. Soldier Ant, Arctic Rescue Ant, Missile Assault Ant, & Orbit Adventure Ant Chikara Just Shadows in the Fog 3/8/13

This was a match to show off the Colony Xtreme Force. Some good stuff, some bad stuff. More of a curiosity to advance story.

Listed: Mike Quackenbush & Fire Ant vs. Jigsaw & The Shard Chikara Watchmaker 3/9/13

This match has its flaws, but I thought it was still very good. JigShard isolated Fire Ant and tried going after his leg the entire match even taking advantage of the lucha rules to make sure Quack doesn’t come in. They don’t during the control section, but it pays off in the end. There were some cool spots although there were some iffy spots and the crowd could have been a little more hotter to take it over the top. The story puts it on the list for now.

Watched: Scott “Jagged” Parker, Shane Matthews, Gran Akuma, Green Ant & Dasher Hatfield vs. Icarus, Johnny Gargano, Sugar Dunkerton, Max Smashmaster & Blaster McMassive Chikara Watchmaker 3/9/13

Pretty good match at times, but as usual with Chikara matches, they rarely seem to put it all together the entire match.

Watched: Michael Elgin vs Silas Young ROH on SBG 3/23/13

Pretty good sub 8 minute match if you can get past the leg work not being sold. This was more to showcase Elgin.

Watched: Jay Lethal vs. Michael Elgin ROH Supercard of Honor VII 4/5/13

It got pretty good by the end, but as usual with this company, the beginning and middle amount to nothing.

Watched: Karl Anderson vs. Roderick Strong ROH Supercard of Honor VII 4/5/13

Same issues that applied to Lethal/Elgin apply here.

Watched: Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reilly vs. Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards ROH Supercard of Honor VII 4/5/13

Apparently the theme of the night is to not exert much effort in the beginning and middle, but have a fun closing stretch. reDRagon being heels actually gives this a better dynamic then most Wolves matches because it actually makes me somewhat care about them getting there asses kicked. Other then that, same issues as with this entire show so far.

Watched: Jay Briscoe vs. Kevin Steen ROH Supercard of Honor VII 4/5/13

The booking ended up making this a good match. I got the angle with Kevin attacking Jay’s shoulder, but the work didn’t come off as interesting as the Kingston/Steen match this year. I also didn’t really feel like Jay earned the victory. Good moment for him, but this didn’t do much for me.

Watched: Austin Aries & Bobby Roode vs. Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez vs. Christopher Daniels & Kazarian TNA Lockdown 2013 3/10/13

This was good stuff. Probably could have cut off the Aries/Roode control section on Chavo considering I didn’t think it was as good as Bad Influence’s. Do that and it is listable. As is, it took enough steam out of it to leave this off.

Watched: Kurt Angle vs. Wes Brisco Cage Match TNA Lockdown 2013 3/10/13

Pointless cage match. The only real use of the cage was for the finish.

Watched: DOC , Devon, Garett Bischoff, Knox & Mr. Anderson vs. Eric Young, James Storm, Magnus, Samoa Joe & Sting Lethal Lockdown Match TNA Lockdown 2013 3/10/13

It was alright for what it was. They do need another ring to keep these matches flowing better.

Watched: Rob Van Dam vs Jerry Lynn No DQ TNA One Night Only X-Travaganza 2013 taped 1/12/13, shown 4/5/13

They did some new spots, but the execution really hurt my enjoyment of the match.

Listed: Bully Ray vs Jeff Hardy Full Metal Mayhem TNA Impact 4/11/13

Very damn good. It was pretty much train wreck match that you would expect from these two with no BS in it. Granted there were two reset spots with a ladder and a table, but they ended up being a brutal payoff in the end. Without the resets it probably could have been upper echelon. Still it is on the list. #6.

Watched: Antonio Cesaro vs Zack Ryder WWE Superstars 3/22/13

Good short match. Cesaro wrecking Ryder’s leg was fun for the short time it got. I wish the match went longer however.

Watched: Antonio Cesaro vs Chris Jericho Raw WWE 4/1/13

More to showcase the Jericho/Fandango feud then make Cesaro look good. Tragedy.

Watched: BJ Whitmer, Caprice Coleman, Cedric Alexander, Mark Briscoe & Mike Mondo vs. Cliff Compton, Jimmy Jacobs, Jimmy Rave, Rhett Titus & Rhino ROH Supercard of Honor VII 4/5/13

Some good stuff in it, but I thought the commentary overshadowed the match.

Watched: Mercedes Martinez vs. Ayumi Kurihara Shimmer 53 4/6/13

Pretty much a Mercedes clinic on how to throw awesome punches. Ayumi’s retiring in August. I know a good chunk of Joshi fans like her, but this match was a formula “your turn, my turn” match. I liked her better in that tag match last year.

Watched: Athena vs. Ayako Hamada Shimmer 53 4/6/13

Good in parts, but I’m not going crazy for it. Athena was great in selling Hamada’s spots, but the match dragged at points because of it. The sequences in this match were not at the level of a very good match. Doesn’t make me forget about Athena/Martinez.

Watched: Cheerleader Melissa vs. Saraya Knight Cage Match Shimmer 53 4/6/13

Pretty much a whole lot of nothing.

Watched: MASADA vs. Jun Kasai Gusset Plate, Panes of Glass & Barbed Wire Deathmatch CZW at WrestleCon 4/5/13

This was pretty damn brutal, but could have been worse. I will say that the match was good for what it was and quite the spectacle. Then the finish happened with the interference and MASADA losing his grip on the powerbomb and that was a downer. So no list.

Watched: Uhaa Nation vs. AR Fox vs. Andrew Everett (Chiva Kid) CZW Best of the Best 12 4/13/13

Good spotfest. Everett reeks of douchiness and will eventually be a good member of the roster for being ridiculously smooth. I can’t get over the fact that Fox and Nation were playing 50/50 though.

Watched: Sami Callihan vs. Adam Cole CZW Best of the Best 12 4/13/13

Disappointing. Just a bad Cole performance with him dicking around for time as well as his stupid Canadian Destroyers and bad selling. A waste of Sami.

Watched: AR Fox vs. Alex Colon CZW Best of the Best 12 4/13/13

Back and forth with way too much overkill even for a short match.

Watched: Big Show, Sheamus, Randy Orton vs The Shield WWE Wrestlemania 29 4/7/13

Another good Shield match. This was shorter and there was a story of Show not being tagged in because the faces are assholes. If the Shield hadn’t set the bar so high, I could see throw up on the list, but this kind of felt like a regular match with none of the chaos that took those other matches to the next level.

Listed: Undertaker vs CM Punk Wrestlemania 29 4/7/13

This is a tricky one. I thought they did a nice job in transitioning the match from Punk pissing Taker off and the pay back to that, to the eventual Taker epic while not getting crazy with the nearfalls. Beginning was fine if you can get past Taker being methodical with his offense, but I was cool with it. The ending was good with just being based around smart cheating. The G2S-Tombstone spot was stupid though. Some will bitch about the Taker doing his no-selling stuff, but it’s the Undertaker and it worked for this situation. I’ll throw it up there because Punk was the glue that held that match together. Won’t be there by the end of the year. #10.

Watched: Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H No Holds Barred Wrestlemania 29 4/7/13

I don’t think it is as bad on rewatch, but the apathetic crowd really killed this. HHH going even with Brock was terrible, but Brock takes back over with his suplexes. After that HHH could only take back over with distractions or when Brock left himself open. It eventually leads to HHH going after Brock’s arm which makes sense in storyline form and the usual series of events with HHH. The story was fine, but execution at points and general apathy of the crowd sucked the life out of this one.

Watched: John Cena vs. The Rock Wrestlemania 29 4/7/13

Overkilly with some absurd selling thrown in there that should not have went that long. I think I’m through with Rock matches at this point.

Listed: Kassius Ohno vs William Regal NXT WWE 4/10/13

This was as violent as I expected it to be and more. Ohno has his fingers worked over while Regal has his head/ear worked over. Ohno’s fingers looked like they were dislocated and was disgusting. At that point he couldn’t get his submission in. Regal’s equilibrium selling was outstanding. This has none of the problems that the Punk/Cena match with stuff getting no sold. MOTY right now. #1.

Watched: ACH vs. Mat Fitchett AAW Durty Deeds 2013 2/10/13

This was pretty damn good. Mat has some nice pieces of offense that stand out from other wrestlers, but does show his greenness at times. ACH carried the proceedings well by being his usual awesome self. If Mat had a couple more years to him, then this could be listable, but not now.

Watched: Davey Richards vs. Sami Callihan AAW Durty Deeds 2013 2/10/13

Man, Richards is much more tolerable in AAW then he is in the other companies. I struggle to call this good, but Richards stupidity wasn’t really present here. Sami had his leg worked on, but I feel he has sold better in the past. Good amount of hate and fish hooking, but I don’t even think it is better then the last match.

Watched: Michael Elgin vs Silas Young AAW Durty Deeds 2013 2/10/13

On the bottom end of there feud. Nothing remotely interesting.

Listed: Mike Quackenbush & Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Jigsaw & The Shard Chikara The Shoulder of Pallas 4/6/13

This is very tricky. I dig the first 2/3rds of this with Quack and Liger tying there opponents into knots which leads to the back work on Quack. The finishing stretch wasn’t that great to me mostly because Liger can’t keep up anymore and the selling wasn’t that great from Quack/Liger. I’ll list it, but barely. #12

Cesaro/Neville will get reviewed as well as a host of other tv matches, until the DGUSA shows finally come out. And look what finally came out.

Watched: Paul London vs Kevin Steen PWG All Star Weekend 9 Night 1 3/22/13

I thought Steen carried this. London’s good at eating offense, but his offense doesn’t come off that well at times. Steen’s layout of the match made it as good as it was.

Watched: Young Bucks vs Johnny Gargano/Chuck Taylor PWG All Star Weekend 9 Night 1 3/22/13

Good match. Wasn’t as enthralled with the first 2/3rds mostly because the Bucks have done them better. The last third was fun once again, but a bit no selly.

Watched: AR Fox/Samurai Del Sol vs Ricochet/Rich Swann PWG All Star Weekend 9 Night 1 3/22/13

If you wanted high flying in this sucker, you got it in spades. I just think that they should have cut the formalities. Especially when there was a good amount of miscommunication in those formalities. Once the stretch happened, the crazy flying slowly escalated into complete insanity. I just wish they would have shortened the match and just have them go nuts for 10 minutes. Good match, but the middle just took me away from it.

Watched: Adam Cole/Kyle O’Reilly vs Michael Elgin/Brian Cage PWG All Star Weekend 9 Night 1 3/22/13

Had a good beginning, but got worse as it went along minus Elgin being a gigantic freak of nature.

Watched: Sami Callihan vs. Drake Younger Guerilla Warfare PWG All Star Weekend 9 Night 1 3/22/13

Well, this sure was something. This was there series of matches but with a staple gun and salt thrown into the mix. They were creative with those deathmatch spots, but I felt they weren’t necessary and weren’t really sold down the stretch. Second best match in there PWG series, closer to the DDT match.

Watched: Michael Elgin/Brian Cage/Kevin Steen vs. AR Fox/Ricochet/Rich Swann PWG All Star Weekend 9 Night 2 3/23/13

The beginning and middle was real good, but I thought the ending stretch went a bit too far. Especially Elgin surviving 3 finishers and then getting back to finish up. It also wasn’t as smooth as I would have liked it to be. Another good match on par with Ricochet/Swann vs Del Sol/Fox but just isn’t that high end whole match. No, barely.

Listed: Young Bucks vs. Eddie Edwards/Roderick Strong PWG All Star Weekend 9 Night 2 3/23/13

If you can get past the crowd not being as hot as I would want, this is another very damn good Young Bucks match. The Dojo Bros. control in the beginning by chopping the shit out of the Young Bucks and then are taken over with scratching. The finishing stretch is the usual awesomeness with the added bonus of not overstaying its welcome. I wish the crowd reacted better for YB killing the announcer and the ref, but this is still a very damn good match. #7.

Watched: Adam Cole Vs Drake Younger PWG All Star Weekend 9 Night 2 3/23/13

It was better then I thought and I would even say it is good. They work around Drake’s limitations well although Drake trying to wrestle is still ridiculous. The stuff with the back of Drake’s head was good and his fighting spirit didn’t come off as bad as it usually does. Still too many head drops though.

Watched: ACH & Tadarius Thomas vs. C&C Wrestle Factory ROH Boarder Wars 2013 5/4/13

Decent opener but miscommunication between the teams sinks this.

Watched: Eddie Edwards vs. Taiji Ishimori ROH Boarder Wars 2013 5/4/13

Whole lotta nothing for the 15 or so minutes it got. Skip.

Watched: Davey Richards vs. Paul London ROH Boarder Wars 2013 5/4/13

It was fine for a match between these two. Davey was actually playing subtle heel which actually made it better then most Davey matches. London blew up and was sweating like a pig. The tombstone, accidental double stomp to the head, and finish was actually good (although scary for London), but the first 2/3rds were crap to me.

Watched: Jay Briscoe vs. Adam Cole ROH Boarder Wars 2013 5/4/13

Very lukewarm match. The story was ok, but Jay is not good enough to take that match to the next level.

Watched: Junthai Miller vs Prince Mustafa Ali AAW Epic 3/23/13

Damn good Ali performance. He had some neat arm attacks to him and did some outstanding counters into the crossface. Miller sold the arm well, but I thought he took too long to set up offense at points. Good and that’s it.

Watched: Shane Hollister vs Jimmy Jacobs AAW Epic 3/23/13

Damn good match. Takes a bit to get going, but once Jacobs took the tope into the guardrail it started to get good. Some cool shit, but it became a bit too reliant on fighting spirit and the match went a bit too long. Can’t list it.

Watched: ACH vs Davey Richards AAW Epic 3/23/13

Good broadway, but Davey surprisingly was the reason for it. Davey treated ACH like garbage and did a good job dicking it up which led to Davey working on the leg and actually doing a good job of it. Except that ACH did a poor job of selling it. Davey’s tendencies crept back in however when he had to do submissions in the final few minutes to get to the draw. Waste of a rare good Davey performance.

Watched: Roderick Strong/Kyle O’Reilly/Bobby Fish vs Davey Richards/Eddie Edwards/Michael Elgin ROH on SBG 2/23/13

It was good, but the acoustics are really preventing the matches from being better.

Watched: Daniel Bryan, Kane & Undertaker vs. Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins WWE Raw 4/22/13

It’s going to be tough to differentiate these Shield matches, but here we go. Good match. Crowd was hot for Taker and Bryan and couldn’t give any less of a shit about Kane. Kane as FIP isn’t really that compelling, but it gets better with Daniel getting in and Taker as the hot tag. Dean not really selling the chokeslam long enough made me sad and the resultant missed headbutt into the pin made me sadder. I’m positive they have a better one in them.

Watched: Antonio Cesaro vs Adrian Neville WWE NXT 4/24/13

Probably the best match today. Pac goes for early cradles while Claudio tries to ground him with chin locks and the “Hey” chants return. I’m torn on whether I want this listed. I mean these two had better matches in Chikara and PWG and I feel this match didn’t really showcase Antonio as much as I wanted. I’ll say slight no.

Watched: Daniel Bryan, John Cena & Kane vs. Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins WWE Raw 4/29/13

Not as good as the one from last week although it has its good points. Cena has the Achilles injury and Hell No won’t tag him in because of it. Kane trying to act pissed off because of the Shield taking out the Undertaker was embarrassing. Ok.

Watched: Amasis vs The Shard Chikara Battle Not with Monsters 5/3/13

Pretty damn good. Probably The Shard’s best singles match yet with him breaking out Roderick Strong like backbreakers and beating Amasis’s ass down. Too bad Amasis’s back selling was awful because it have been listed otherwise, but it just ends up being a sweet Shard showcase.

Watched: UltraMantis Black, Hallowicked & Frightmare vs. Icarus, Chuck Taylor, & Johnny Gargano Chikara Battle Not with Monsters 5/3/13

A pretty good final few minutes doesn’t negate the pedestrian first 2/3rds of the match.

Listed: Eddie Kingston vs. Green Ant Chikara Battle Not with Monsters 5/3/13

This certainly delivered. GA goes after Eddie’s leg in a callback to there last match and Eddie sells it like Eddie fucking Kingston aka sublime. So Eddie has to kill him with suplexes, strikes, and does a little neck work. And his desperation is off the charts. Some moves could have been better which puts below the Steen match, but I still dug a lot of this. #5.

Listed: Eddie Kingston vs. Mark Angelosetti Chikara The Ghost That Clings to You 5/4/13

God is Eddie amazing. You had the slow burn of Eddie working the headlock in the beginning which led to the eventual “Eddie gets his leg destroyed match. Mark wasn’t as good at attacking the leg, but Eddie sold it amazingly acting like the stubborn ace he should be. Mark was good in getting Eddie up on his offensive moves, but this was the Eddie Kingston show and he’s got two matches listed today. #8.

Will get 19 and 21 later on. This was acceptable if you can get past Matt trying to do power moves.

Watched: Tomahawk T.T. vs. Eita Evolve 20 5/30/13

Well this was a big sack of whatever. These two are supposedly the future of Dragon Gate which makes the future not any better then the present. This was two wrestlers doing there stuff with no story. They can chop and have some charisma, but they don’t know how to fill the time of there matches, like all Dragon Gate wrestlers. The fact that Gabe was trying to say that these two going at in another gear at average speed was hilarious.

Watched: Anthony Nese vs. Samuray Del Sol Evolve 20 5/30/13

It was good, but a bit too even for my taste. Fine for a match between two high flyers, but the small crowd stinks.

Watched: AR Fox vs. Lince Dorado Evolve 22 6/2/13

It was a pretty crazy spotfest at points, but there wasn’t any rhyme or reason to it and these spotfests have been executed way better. It also felt very artificial and cooperative.

Listed: Johnny Gargano vs. Samuray Del Sol Evolve 22 6/2/13

You know what, fuck it, I thought this was very good, but more because of Del Sol. Minus Gargano bailing Del Sol out on an arm drag on the outside and the usual run of offense, it kind of felt like he was staying still during his control section. With the exception of that and a fighting spirit sequence, you had a better crowd and bigger reaction for the finish. I thought this offered enough to be listed. #14.

Watched: Young Bucks vs. EITA and Tomahawk T.T. Evolve 22 6/2/13

Good, but kind of one sided. In a way it made it better, but I was still hoping to see a little more from the DG boys then I got.

Since I started reviewing, I think he's the best of the high flyers. He has the most impressive spots, I like his quick strike flurries, and his small size makes him a good underdog.

Watched: A.R. Fox vs. Ricochet Evolve 19 4/5/13

A waste. Fox's superman push is becoming more annoying then Cena's. They would have been better off having an under 10 minute sprint with no time killing bullshit.

Watched: Young Bucks vs. Super Smash Brothers Evolve 19 4/5/13

Another good YB match. Too bad the acoustics suck in Evolve, but it had some nice comedy in the beginning and some nice teases for the hot tag.

Listed: The American Wolves vs. Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander ROH War 3/30/13

This was…very good? WTF. No story, but this was actually well built in the beginning and middle so they didn’t blow there loads right off the bat. The finishing stretch was sweet minus the DDT your own partner business, but the match finished when it needed to. #15.

Watched: Kevin Steen vs Mark Briscoe ROH War 3/30/13

Meh. Only interesting during the SCUM vs Briscoe family brawl.

Watched: Tadarius Thomas vs Matt Taven ROH Dragon’s Reign 5/11/13

It had a good hot crowd, but this was doing nothing for me. The work was fine, but it just didn’t excite me.

Listed: ACH vs Michael Elgin ROH Dragon’s Reign 5/11/13

This was some awesome stuff. This was your speed vs strength match but since these two are good at what they do it ends up working. ACH gets his ass kicked and he makes spirited comebacks. So this should certainly be checked out. #6.

Watched: Jimmy Jacobs vs Jay Lethal NO DQ ROH Dragon’s Reign 5/11/13

Crap. Way to tame for a No DQ match.

Watched: Bobby Fish/Kyle O’Reilly vs Briscoes ROH Dragon’s Reign 5/11/13

Minus Jay’s arm selling, this was so underwhelming and deflating.

Watched: Jimmy Jacobs vs Jay Lethal ROH on SBG 5/18/13

Way better then the Dragon’s Reign match. Simple story with Jacobs going after Jay’s leg and Jay actually doing a good job of selling it. Not great, but a good one.

Watched: Roderick Strong vs. Taiji Ishimori ROH on SBG 5/25/13

It got fun in the end, but this match was heatless otherwise.

Listed: Kofi Kingston vs Antonio Cesaro WWE Main Event 5/1/13

This is a tricky match to rate because this match is different then any wrestling matches you see today let alone WWE. The best way I can describe it is that the ending stretch run came in the middle, and the control section on Kofi’s leg came in the end. Add the opening amateur mat section and this is the most un-WWE-like match that has taken place in a WWE ring. I’m confident in saying this was very good between Cesaro fucking Kofi up, to Kofi desperately pulling out the victory in a believable way. I’ll have to wait and see if this is top 20 worthy. For now, #7.

Watched: Ryback vs Daniel Bryan WWE Smackdown 5/3/13

This was a damn good tv version of Bryan vs Morishima. Enough to list it. No, on account that Bryan got back on offense a bit too quick at points and that this was more of a Ryback showcase so he didn’t sell it as well as Morishima did in 07. I won’t think that people are crazy for liking it though.

Watched: Kane vs Dean Ambrose WWE Smackdown 5/3/13

Surprisingly good. Kane was actually throwing some great punches and the Shield pinballed around for him big time. Leg work was decent and was sold fine. Still, Kane does not have the charisma to pull these types of matches off to that next level.

Watched: Dean Ambrose vs Daniel Bryan WWE Smackdown 5/10/13

Not that hot of a match, and nothing notable happened in this.

Watched: Justin Gabriel vs Cody Rhodes WWE Superstars 5/11/13

Perfectly fine. I wish it had a story to it to stand out, but this was alright.
