Watched: Team Tremendous vs. Roppongi Vice Evolve 53 1/22/16

Good match. I dug Carr for getting he is a big man and not going down easy, while Barry had some nice stuff to him, but could be a little inconsistent at times. Heel turn for Vice was probably for the best.

Listed: Chris Hero/Tommy End vs Sami Callihan/Zack Sabre Jr. Evolve 53 1/22/16

My god this lineup. I have a hard time not picturing this in the top 10 by the end of the year. It was a dream match sort of deal but without any of the annoying indy structure that you usually get by cutting the crap and trying to execute your strategy at that point even though it might fail. Everything you expect from these four you will get in spades. Might have went a bit too long, but there is too much brutal shit in it. #1.

Watched: Johnny Gargano/Drew Galloway vs. Drew Gulak/TJ Perkins Evolve 53 1/22/16

Good. I actually thought the handicap match stuff was better then everything after just because it got a bit messy down the stretch.

Watched: Team Tremendous vs. Premier Athlete Brand Evolve 54 1/23/16

I call it good just for the fact that Carr was a beast in it.

Watched: Tomasso Ciampa vs Ethan Page Evolve 54 1/23/16

Meh. Kind of shooty at points, but nothing interesting for most of it.

Watched: Zack Sabre Jr./Sami Callihan vs. TJ Perkins/Drew Gulak Evolve 54 1/23/16

Fence rider, but I’m afraid I have to say no. Weird to have the heel team be the FIP in it although it was awesome to have Sami and Zach destroy them. Drew could have sold his leg better honestly and it didn’t really come into play.

Watched: Chris Hero/Tommy End vs. Roppongi Vice Evolve 54 1/23/16

Good carry by Hero and End. Vice stuck to the arm on End which helped keep focus to the match. Still Vice have a ceiling to them and it was a little rolling for Rocky to be getting as much offense on there opponents as they did.

Watched: Hooligans vs. Zero Gravity AAW The Chaos Theory 1/15/16

Good, but a really botched finish.

Listed: Chris Hero vs. Sami Callihan AAW The Chaos Theory 1/15/16

Very good, barely. The match doesn’t work as much on the individual moments scale, but more in the whole picture. Hero throws boots, Sami throws chair at leg and goes after it, Sami baits Hero into blocking corner charge with leg, Sami dares him to keep doing it, Hero elbows, and etc. More people will enjoy it more then me, but it did go a bit too long and had a very anti-climatic end. Still, on the list at #2.

Watched: Eddie Kingston vs. Trevor Lee AAW The Chaos Theory 1/15/16

Eddie is still an outstanding seller, but the match itself just didn’t have that feel of a title match.

Watched: reDRagon vs. Frankie Kazarian/Chris Sabin ROH Winter Warriors Tour Indianapolis 1/15/16

Good in that low level ROH tag match sort of way.

Watched: Alex Shelly vs Adam Cole ROH Winter Warriors Tour Indianapolis 1/15/16

Good if you can get over the leg work not being sold by Shelly.

Listed: War Machine/Briscoes vs. Young Bucks/All Night Express ROH Winter Warriors Tour Indianapolis 1/15/16

Really fun spotfest. It helped that it didn’t overstay its welcome and that the teams seemed to mesh really well. Only one thing seemed off in the beginning because Rowe was not in position, but it’s one of the better matches I’ve seen from ROH in a while. #2.

Watched: Usos vs Alberto Del Rio/Rusev WWE Raw 1/4/16

This was a match that I will not remember.

Watched: New Day vs Kalisto/Dudley Boys WWE Raw 1/4/16

Good match.

Watched: Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens WWE Smackdown 1/7/16

Didn’t think it really escalated in way where we deserved a hate filled brawl at the end, but it was ok for a schmozz match.

Watched: Big E/Kofi Kingston vs Usos WWE Raw 1/11/16

Another good fun match. These New Day matches won’t set the world on fire, but you get some fun moments and good solid wrestling.

Watched: Alberto Del Rio vs Kalisto WWE Raw 1/11/16

I actually liked this better watching it again. Del Rio pretty much just mugs the shit out of Kalisto for 95% and Kalisto takes several death bumps including the tope miss into the barrier. Could have shortened it just a little, but this was a good match otherwise.

Watched: Kalisto vs. Alberto Del Rio WWE Smackdown 1/14/16

Another good one. Here we have more of the traditional arm work you expect from Del Rio and Kalisto selling it really well. Kalisto gets more in here and even survives the basement superkick and the cross armbreaker before dying again on a dive with Wade saving Del Rio. I don’t think I can quite list this, but these two go together real well.

Watched: Kevin Owens/Sheamus vs Dean Ambrose/Neville WWE Smackdown 1/14/16

Good. Schmozz ending worked better here then the Owens/Ambrose stuff last week.

Watched: Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens Last Man Standing Match WWE Royal Rumble 1/24/16

It was good in the low level hardcore Kevin matches scale, but it was a bit too by-the-numbers with the table set-ups and stuff.

Watched: Tomasso Ciampa vs Caleb Konley Evolve 55 1/24/16

Was actually shaping up to be good in the beginning, but dragged on way too long.

Watched: Zack Sabre Jr. vs Sami Callihan Evolve 55 1/24/16

Good match, but definitely disappointing considering the caliber of talent involved. The issue wasn’t the limb work or the selling of the limbs, but more because of the mirror spot stuff you tend to get with Calihan matches. Just too much of the wait, sell, and stare stuff which just felt hollow at times. Once we got that the match I wanted then it was good, I just wish they would have cut that earlier stuff out.

Watched: Matt Riddle vs. Tracy Williams Evolve 55 1/24/16

Good as being the antithesis to the Zack/Sami match. Not any selling or story but more memorable stuff overall like with the piledrivers.

Listed: Johnny Gargano/Drew Galloway vs. Chris Hero/Tommy End Evolve 55 1/24/16

I knew this had a chance of being good, but this was better then I thought it would be. This was mostly a heavyweight brawl with Johnny picking his spots and it was pretty glorious. Not perfect because there were some mirror spots that could have been cut and the part where Hero/End were beating each other up was a little unnecessary, but when they were just beating the shit out of each other, it was pretty awesome. #3.

Watched: AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho WWE Raw 1/25/16

AJ did well in carrying this, but Chris was just out of his depth here.

Watched: Sami Zayn vs. Baron Corbin vs. Samoa Joe WWE NXT 1/27/16

This was pretty listless until the end.

Watched: Kevin Owens vs Dolph Ziggler WWE Raw 2/1/16

Good match. This was Kevin making Dolph his bitch by wasting Ziggler and talking trash. Weird finish though that I’m sure will not go anywhere.

Watched: Apollo Crews vs Finn Balor WWE NXT 2/3/16

Meh. I got Finn grounding Crews with headlocks and armlocks, but then they just sort of lazily went into there stretch run without any selling.

Watched: AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho WWE Smackdown 2/11/16

Felt similar in quality to there last match. Chris may have been a little better here.

Watched: AJ Styles vs Miz WWE Raw 2/15/16

Good match. It helped that there was an added dimension with Miz getting some of teeth knocked out by Styles on Smackdown so there was more hate Miz in that. Styles of course ruled it and I can’t wait until he gets a better opponent.

Watched: Sami Zayn vs. Samoa Joe WWE NXT 2/17/16

Good match. Didn’t have the urgency to be anything more because of the finish, but Joe laid the beating in.

Watched: Dolph Ziggler/Kalisto/Sin Cara vs Sheamus/Rusev/Alberto Del Rio WWE Smackdown 2/18/16

This was probably a good match, if you can ignore the commentary. Why, because Kevin Owens was anally raping the Raw commentators all match and my good it was incredible. I mean the match actually could have been on the way to being listed, but fuck I dare anyone not to smile at what Kevin did.

Watched: Drew Gulak vs. Timothy Thatcher PWG Lemmy 1/2/16

Good match as you would expect. Not as many highlights then you usually get, but it was a midcard deal so they were doing that on purpose.

Watched: Sami Callihan vs. Trevor Lee PWG Lemmy 1/2/16

This was sadly not good. If they were going for a hate filled match, they didn’t really show the urgency as such.

Watched: Akira Tozawa vs. Zack Sabre, Jr. PWG Lemmy 1/2/16

Meh. It was right for Zack to not trust Akira to sell anything, but it felt too exhibitiony.

Watched: Roderick Strong vs. Chris Hero PWG Lemmy 1/2/16

Jesus another disappointing one. Both seemed blown up early and it just didn’t have any pace to it.

Watched: Kalisto vs. Alberto Del Rio 2/3 Falls WWE Fastlane 2/21/16

People were giving a lot of praise to this, but I thought it was a bit too similar to there other matches, but with Kalisto getting just a little more.

Watched: Kevin Owens vs. Dolph Ziggler WWE Fastlane 2/21/16

Meh in the beginning, better by the end.

Watched: AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho WWE Fastlane 2/21/16

Barely good. I don’t think Chris was anymore out of his depth then the other matches, but him playing the washed up opponent trying to remain relevant gave it a little more nuance to it.

Listed: Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar WWE Fastlane 2/21/16

This was every bit as crazy as the famous 3 way last year. Similar to last year’s match, this was about Brock salting the earth in one on one situations, and when teamed up on ends up getting overwhelmed. Roman and Dean had more success because they were tighter then Cena and Rollins and they had no problem stopping there fight to take Brock out. The mileage may vary on the ending for both being abrupt and for the winner to sell the previous damage. It was still too awesome however. #1.

Watched: reDRagon ve Adam Cole/Jay Lethal ROH on SBG 1/31/16

OK, but again most of the beginning ends up being completely useless.

Watched: Alex Shelly vs Frankie Kazarian ROH on SBG 2/6/16

Decent match, but the heat was awful.

Watched: Roderick Strong vs. Tomohiro Ishii ROH/NJPW Honor Rising Night 1 2/19/16

Good, but lacking that story element to bring it over the top. Ishii definitely did well in structuring the match in a way where stuff you might find annoying and having it be earned. It helped they just did the apron spot and based the restholds around that and didn’t do anything farther.

Watched: Kazuchika Okada/Tomohiro Ishii/YOSHI-HASHI vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi/Michael Elgin/Roderick Strong ROH/NJPW Honor Rising Night 2 2/20/16

Good house show match.

Re: 2016 MOTYC

PostPosted by jman9 » Sat Apr 02, 2016 4:57 pm

Watched: Adrian Neville/Kalisto/Sin Cara vs New Day WWE Raw 2/22/16

More on the fence then I would have thought. Actually had some pseudo psychology with Neville trying to avoid the unicorn stampede in the beginning. The stretch run was what put it as close to the fence as it did with E taking the tope to nothing, an apron 450, and a 450 off E back onto Xavier.

Watched: Adrian Neville vs Finn Balor WWE NXT 3/2/16

Good beginning goes into a very blah Neville control section which goes into very vanilla no selling finishing run.

Watched: Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch WWE Smackdown 3/4/16

Good match. So different from what you usually get on the main shows. Finish was what it was.

Watched: Kevin Owens vs Dean Ambrose WWE Smackdown 3/4/16

Good match. Nice rib selling by Dean. Probably not a match that should have happened, but what are you going to do.

Watched: Timothy Thatcher vs. Matt Riddle Evolve 58 4/1/16

Good barely. This was a match that I feel got worse the longer it went, mostly because the counters didn’t really feel fast enough. The finish I would have been fine from the standpoint of Riddle being frustrated that he was getting destroyed on the mat that the first opportunity he forced Thatcher to the ropes he would dislocate him in frustration. It just didn’t work though.

Watched: TJ Perkins vs. Ricochet Evolve 58 4/1/16

Good if you can get over Ricochet’s bad leg selling. Would have probably have been wise not to do any leg work in the beginning despite it being used for the finish.

Listed: Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Will Ospreay Evolve 58 4/1/16

This was nutty. Simple story with Zack working the neck with him having as much sick carny neck submissions as arm submissions. Will sold well for the most part, although it did sort of stop by the end. The strength of this match though was how big and awesome each spot came off to the hot crowd without overstaying its welcome. Even some stuff that would be seen as dumb, were at least countered the next move. #3.

Watched: Chris Hero/Tommy End vs. Drew Gulak/Tracy Williams Evolve 58 4/1/16

Good because of Hero and End, but it felt like Catchpoint dropped the ball in this match.

Watched: Drew Galloway/Johnny Gargano vs. Drew Gulak/Tracy Williams Evolve 59 4/2/16

I don’t even think I would call this good honestly. I mean the sound did go wonky when they were working on Galloway’s arm, but the match just seemed really there despite being a title change.

Watched: Chris Hero vs Fred Yehi Evolve 59 4/2/16

Good and served its purpose in elevating Fred. I do think he has a better match in him although I liked him.

Watched: Tommy End vs. TJP Evolve 59 4/2/16

Wow, what a nothing match. The leg story was fine, but there just didn’t seem to be anything that wowed me.

Watched: Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet Evolve 59 4/2/16

Good PWG match that just happened to be in Evolve.

Watched: Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Chris Hero WWN Mercury Rising 2016 4/2/16

Good as you would expect from there other matches, but never quite listable. Both use there usual arsenals with Hero coming back faster with the combination of his limbs only being attacked, his size, and spite. Had nice moments of asshole Hero and Zack aggression, but it just didn’t seem to be enough. Slight no.

Watched: Tracy Williams vs. Matt Riddle WWN Mercury Rising 2016 4/2/16

Another good match between them. This was more along the lines of a pro wrestling match that would favor Tracy more then Matt and it gave it a different flavor then normal in there rivalry.

Watched: Tommy End/Marty Scrull/Will Ospraey vs. Kota Ibushi/Johnny Gargano/TJP WWN Mercury Rising 2016 4/2/16

Fun as the turn your brain off 6-man. If the match was just a little bit cleaner, then maybe it would have been more listable.

Watched: Chris Hero vs Trent? PWG Bowie 2/12/16

Good normal match.

Watched: Trevor Lee vs. Zack Sabre, Jr. PWG Bowie 2/12/16

I liked a lot about this, but it was too long in the end. Sabre’s limb bending was excellent, but Trevor’s stuff in the middle sort of dragged in the middle.

Watched: Jay Lethal vs. Adam Cole vs. Kyle O'Reilly ROH 14th Anniversary Show 2/26/16

Good spotfest three way. It helped it went under 15.

Listed: Briscoes/Cheeseburger vs War Machine/Moose ROH Conquest Tour: Philadelphia 3/12/16

This was really fun. The interaction made this better then most especially the Cheeseburger interactions which made it feel different with his comedy and the big guys catching him like it was nothing. I want more of these from ROH. #7.

Watched: KUSHIDA vs. ACH ROH Conquest Tour: Philadelphia 3/12/16

Good match. It was the arm storyline you expect and ACH sold it well. A lacklustre middle and a botch prevent me from listing it.

Watched: Adam Cole/Roderick Strong vs reDRagon ROH Conquest Tour: Philadelphia 3/12/16

Good match if you just see it as a fun spotfest and not grudge you thought it would be.

Watched: Addiction vs. Young Bucks vs. Motor City Machine Guns ROH Conquest Tour: Philadelphia 3/12/16

If you can get past some of the stupid comedy with Broomega, it’s a good match.

Watched: Jay Lethal vs Matt Sydal ROH Conquest Tour: Philadelphia 3/12/16

Blah. Same old boring house show Lethal match with table a table spot being no sold to boot.

Watched: Wolves vs. Kurt Angle/Drew Galloway vs. Eli Drake/Jesse Godderz TNA One Night Only: Live! 1/8/16

Meh.

Watched: Beer Money vs Eric Young/Bram TNA One Night Only: Live! 1/8/16

This sure was a match.

Watched: Kurt Angle vs Drew Galloway TNA Impact 1/12/16

Drew is probably the best opponent to drag a better then you would think match out of Kurt since AJ. Did well in selling the ankle, still too many finisher kickouts.

Watched: EC3 vs Matt Hardy TNA Last Man Standing Match TNA Impact 1/19/16

Good angle driven match. This was the usual gimmick filled match where they did the double turn in the middle. It worked for me for the most part, but not outstanding.

Watched: Kurt Angle vs Drew Galloway TNA Impact 2/9/16

A worse version of there January match.

Watched: Wolves vs. Decay Monster’s Ball TNA Impact 2/16/16

Good and satisfying as a feud ender.

Watched: Bobby Fish vs. Christopher Daniels ROH Supercard of Honor X Night 1 4/1/16

God what a waste of a sweet Daniels performance. But that fucking goon Fish could not be bothered to sell the arm.

Watched: Roderick Strong vs Moose ROH Supercard of Honor X Night 1 4/1/16

Good match.

Watched: Kyle O’Reilly vs Matt Sydal ROH Supercard of Honor X Night 1 4/1/16

Good match, but underwhelming selling for both. There were however more highlights to these then Daniels/Fish.

Watched: Adam Cole vs ACH ROH Supercard of Honor X Night 1 4/1/16

Good hot match. Kind of whatever in the middle.

Watched: Jay Lethal vs. Lio Rush ROH Supercard of Honor X Night 1 4/1/16

Best match of the night so far. Jay seems to have the best chemistry when you have the built in story of Lethal facing a rookie opponent and he comes off as little more crisp and vicious in these types of matches.

Watched: Young Bucks vs Motor City Machine Guns ROH Supercard of Honor X Night 1 4/1/16

The story of every Bucks match for the most part. Good, but dragged in the middle.

Watched: Roderick Strong vs. Bobby Fish 2/3 Falls ROH Supercard of Honor X Night 2 4/2/16

Surprisingly good although it took a while to get there. It helps that there is no limb work there.

Listed: Young Bucks vs. Briscoes vs. Motor City Machine Guns vs. Addiction ROH Supercard of Honor X Night 2 4/2/16

An unapologetic spotfest and a better one then most. Some stuff that has happened with other matches, but this just felt right. #8.

Watched: Adam Cole vs. Kyle O’Reilly No Holds Barred ROH Supercard of Honor X Night 2 4/2/16

It was a good feud ender, but I was wishing for blood in it.

This was damn good sprint although the match had nothing to do with angle afterwards. If those tied in together, I could see myself listing it.

Watched: Sami Zayn vs. Samoa Joe 2/3 Falls WWE NXT 3/9/16

OK…there hearts were in the right place, but the match didn’t need to go as long as it did. Sami I could never remember doing a 30+ minute match, and Joe hasn’t done these since his ROH days. Joe had a nice variety of strikes, but not a lot that made me jump out. I also didn’t feel it made sense for Sami to keep selling everytime Joe hit a strike in a match as long as it was. They made the best of it, but it’s not something I would want to watch again.

Watched: Wyatt Family vs Dean Ambrose/Dolph Ziggler/Usos Smackdown 3/10/16

Another good Smackdown tag.

Watched: AJ Styles vs Kevin Owens WWE Smackdown 3/17/16

Good, because it just couldn’t be.

Watched: AJ Styles vs Kevin Owens WWE Raw 3/21/16

A bit more filler then there last match, but still good.

Watched: Asuka vs Emma WWE NXT 3/23/16

Good, but weirdly didn’t have an Asuka comeback as they jumped to the finish.

Watched: Kevin Owens/Stardust/Miz vs Dolph Ziggler/Sin Cara/Sami Zayn WWE Raw 3/28/16

Despite the bizarre crowd, this was a good match. This was Kevin forcing his minions to due the grunt work until they had enough and it was just Owens and Zayn in the end. Probably needed more wrestlers the people cared for sadly.

Watched: Matt Riddle vs Anthony Nese Evolve 60 5/6/16

It was alright, but I just can’t get into Nese.

Watched: Johnny Gargano vs Marty Scurll Evolve 60 5/6/16

Good for storyline and selling purposes, but it felt like an indy dream match parody at points.

Watched: Drew Gulak/Tracy Williams vs TJ Perkins/Fred Yehi Evolve 60 5/6/16

Good.

Watched: Chris Hero vs Zach Sabre Jr. Evolve 60 5/6/16

These matches will always be good, but they tend to be the same direction.

Listed: Scott Dawson/Dash Wilder vs. Jason Jordan/Chad Gable NXT Takeover: Dallas 4/1/16

This was certainly a very good start. This felt like an evolution of the southern style tag. There was a botch in there where you could certainly say that the Revival missed an opportunity, but it just looked terrible. I feel that a chunk of the ROH tags this year were just more fun in general, but this was nice too. #9.

Listed: Sami Zayn vs. Shinsuke Nakamura NXT Takeover: Dallas 4/1/16

In the mold of the Samoa Joe/Kobashi match, I thought it was very good. It was a puro legend trying to take on the ace of the company with a red hot crowd, but with the flaws of the New Japan style. With that said, it did avoid those pitfalls outside of the prolonged forearm exchange, but that busted Nakamura open. This was more based around smart countering and not as much on stiffness, and everything went about as well as it could have. Not the MOTYC, but up there. #4.

Listed: Bayley vs. Asuka NXT Takeover: Dallas 4/1/16

I did not expect to like this as much as I did. I thought it was going to be a styles clash, but Bayley held up her end and did well in finding credible ways of taking Asuka out, especially that leg catch into the kneebar which felt straight out of Arison. Really in love with women’s mat wrestling as it something that is fresh in this stale company throughout the mid aughts. #5.

Listed: Finn Balor vs. Samoa Joe NXT Takeover: Dallas 4/1/16

BLOOD. This was a better match then the one at the last Takeover for obvious reasons. Joe gets busted open like the first 15 seconds and just goes apeshit after that. Just sucks that the doctors were constantly getting in the way of these two fighting. Still really liked a chunk of this. #6.

Watched: Kevin Owens vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Stardust vs. The Miz vs. Sin Cara vs. Zack Ryder vs. Sami Zayn Ladder Match WWE Wrestlemania XXII 4/3/16

Good on the ladder match scale. Nice pace and didn’t waste too much time.

Watched: Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho vs. Cesaro WWE Raw 4/4/16

Honestly, I don’t think I would call this good despite the talent. Just felt too indy at times and lacked urgency.

Watched: AJ Styles/Cesaro vs Chris Jericho/Kevin Owens WWE Smackdown 4/7/16

Way better then the four way and closer to the line then I would have thought. Team Canada showed way more personality and stooged well while the face team ruled it. Only 10 and the Zayn distraction in the end overshadowed the match in the end. Still top 10 for WWE matches at this point.

Watched: Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro WWE Raw 4/11/16

Good match, but just didn’t seem to have the heat to it. It ticked the boxes of the arm work and early Cesaro shine and Kevin’s reaction to it, but it just didn’t seem to reach the heights that could have.

Watched: Sami Zayn vs. AJ Styles WWE Raw 4/11/16

Good and hot near the end, but really quiet in the beginning. Strange booking to do this.

Watched: Sheamus/Alberto Del Rio vs Bray Wyatt/Roman Reigns WWE Raw 4/11/16

Good main event.

Watched: Alberto Del Rio vs AJ Styles WWE Smackdown 4/14/16

Meh. I was expecting better.

Watched: Chris Jericho vs Sami Zayn WWE Raw 4/18/16

OK

Watched: AJ Styles vs Sheamus WWE Raw 4/25/16

Another AJ match that made me feel empty. I don’t think it is as much the wrestlers as it is the environment feeling dead.

Watched: Usos vs Karl Anderson/Luke Gallows WWE Raw 4/25/16

It served its purpose of making Bullet Club into killers. I just don’t think I would have dragged it out as long as they did.

Watched: Alberto Del Rio vs Roman Reigns WWE Raw 4/25/16

Whatever.

Watched: Chuck Taylor vs. Trevor Lee PWG All Star Weekend 12 Night 1 3/4/16

Good fun opening card deal.

Watched: Chris Hero vs. Evil Uno PWG All Star Weekend 12 Night 1 3/4/16

Another good one. This one had more of a face/heel dynamic to it, or at least had a much clearer classic heel in Uno. The one counts at the end would have worked better if the gotch was built up more, but all in all it ended when it needed to.

Watched: Mark Andrews vs. Roderick Strong PWG All Star Weekend 12 Night 1 3/4/16

It was good, then they took it a couple moves too far. The problem is that Mark landed face first on a gutbuster, couldn’t get up for the sick kick and Roderick used his end of heartache and had to pull him up which looked bad. Mark for some reason got a token nearfall off the SSP in a non-title match and that’s where it fell apart.

Listed: Young Bucks vs. Matt Sydal/Ricochet PWG All Star Weekend 12 Night 1 3/4/16

If you can get past that one part of a sequence not looking good, this is very good. Sydal used his kicks to great effect and was an awesome FIP, while Ricochet was awesome as the hot tag and doing his Ricochet things. A lot of times with Bucks matches it comes down to who can play off of them better, and I think these two have done the best job of late. #11.

Watched: Drew Galloway vs. Trevor Lee PWG All Star Weekend 12 Night 2 3/5/16

Good. Drew was the better wrestler in this.

Watched: Chris Hero/JT Dunn vs. Matt Sydal/Ricochet PWG All Star Weekend 12 Night 2 3/5/16

Good, but not worthy of all the hype.

Watched: Young Bucks vs. reDRagon PWG All Star Weekend 12 Night 2 3/5/16

OK as a tribute to there 2013 matches.

Watched: Roderick Strong vs. Zack Sabre Jr. PWG All Star Weekend 12 Night 2 3/5/16

They were going for the 30+ minute epic and it was just good. They stuck to there strategies for the most part with Strong’s midsection work, and Zack working all the other appendages. Eventually it was going to lead to no selling and this is just another reason not to drag out a match that long.

Watched: Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens WWE Payback 5/1/16

Real good as you would expect. It played out like the grudge match that you would expect although it’s indy tendencies shone through with fighting spirit spots. It’s just too bad that have had so many better matches over the years, because it unintentionally overshadows this match.

Listed: Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles WWE Payback 5/1/16

Very good. The match transitioned about as well as they could have with the power vs speed storyline all the way to the Attitude Era booking match. The thing that bothered me however was Roman taking too many finishers. It didn’t help that AJ took no finishers until the spear at the end. #9.

Watched: Usos vs Karl Anderson/Luke Gallows WWE Raw 5/16/16

Good match.Watched: Bayley vs Nia Jax WWE NXT 5/18/16

Good big vs small match. Bayley carried, but Nia does have some upside. More training will help some of her inadequacies.

Listed: Miz vs. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn vs. Cesaro WWE Extreme Rules 2016 5/22/16

This was awesome. The match actually had some depth to it with the Zayn/Owens and Miz/Cesaro issues and actually did really well in avoid some of the bad clichés of 4 ways. All of it was backed up by a hot second half. #2.

Listed: Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles Extreme Rules WWE Extreme Rules 2016 5/22/16

This was somehow even better then there last match. AJ took much bigger reckless bumps here then in the last match and Roman didn’t take as many finishers or something would happen where the finisher kickout actually didn’t seem egregious. The finisher was the best possible way for Roman to win without it feeling like no selling. This will be in the mix for MOTYC too. #3.

Watched: War Machine vs. Briscoes ROH Global Wars 2016 5/8/16

Got good in the end, but the intensity wasn’t translating as well as it should have.

Watched: Kyle O’Reilly vs Tatsuya Naito ROH Global Wars 2016 5/8/16

Better then I thought. Naito’s personality is way better here. Still eye rolling that the heavyweight has trouble with the junior however.

Watched: Tomohiro Ishii vs. Bobby Fish ROH Global Wars 2016 5/8/16

Nice carry job by Ishii, but Fish has seemed to improve of late.

Watched: Roderick Strong vs Lio Rush ROH War of the Worlds Tour: Dearborn 5/9/16

Fine as a veteran vs rookie match. There was a bad botch on a reverse rana which prevents me from calling it good.

Watched: KUSHIDA vs Dalton Castle ROH War of the Worlds Tour: Dearborn 5/9/16

Best match of the day so far. Good amateur wrestling comedy in the beginning and a smart fun homestretch. The middle was whatever, but it was still good.

Watched: Tomohiro Ishii vs Moose ROH War of the Worlds Tour: Dearborn 5/9/16

Good hoss fight.

Watched: Roderick Strong vs. Adam Page vs. Matt Sydal vs. Moose ROH on SBG 3/26/16

Good until the really bad distraction finish.

Watched: Jay Lethal vs. Hirooki Goto ROH on SBG 3/26/16

For only 8 minutes it was good as a face vs heel match.

Watched: Adam Cole vs KUSHIDA ROH on SBG 4/2/16

Good match. KUSHIDA took a majority of this and it felt a bit too easy when Cole won.

Watched: Addiction vs. Motor City Machine Guns ROH on SBG 4/2/16

Bad.

Watched: ACH vs. Kenny Omega ROH on SBG 4/9/16

Very disappointing. Just not on point.

Watched: Michael Elgin vs. Kamaitachi PWG Prince 5/20/16

Got to a bit of a slow start. Once it got to Kama attacking the legs, it got better, but I honestly didn’t think it was that good.

Watched: Mark Andrews vs. Marty Scurll PWG Prince 5/20/16

Alright, but too many points where it should have ended sooner.

Watched: Andrew Everett vs. Trevor Lee PWG Prince 5/20/16

Good match.

Watched: Jeff Cobb vs. Chris Hero PWG Prince 5/20/16

It’s good. They played it along the lines of striker vs suplexer and worked fine for the most part. Cobb wasn’t as impressive as I thought he would be. Cobb needs to learn to master one more thing to at least be at the level of Elgin, but I don’t think he is there yet.

Watched: TJ Perkins vs Fred Yehi Evolve 61 5/7/16

Solid good match. It’s these two showing what they usually do, it’s good, but what won’t rock your world.

Listed: Drew Gulak vs Tracy Williams Evolve 61 5/7/16

Kind of similar in style to the last match, but I feel it worked better here. The mat wrestling was just a bit more tighter and there was more hard striking in this. Not a top end match, but I dug this more. #15.

Watched: Marty Scrull vs Zack Sabre Jr. Evolve 61 5/7/16

Similar to the other matches and was probably second best of the three. Interesting with Zack selling the losing streak angle so he really didn’t control like he tends to.

Watched: Fred Yehi vs Anthony Nese Evolve 62 6/10/16

Good match. I really dig Fred unique offense and even Nese is becoming better. Maybe Caleb was the black hole I should have been yelling about this whole time.

Listed: Cedric Alexander vs Matt Riddle Evolve 62 6/10/16

I might be slightly overrating this, but this was very good. This was Cedric telling ROH to go fuck themselves for misusing him for the duration of his run by taking on the rookie hotshot and actually be on the verge of winning. Riddle did everything to make Cedric look great and put him on his level immediately before the eventual submission. #16.

Watched: Drew Gulak/Tracy Williams vs. Bravado Brothers Evolve 62 6/10/16

Way too fucking long. I seriously don’t understand his hard on for the Bravados. Harlem: fine, Lancelot: maybe the worse wrestler in the world.

Watched: Timothy Thatcher vs. Chris Hero Evolve 62 6/10/16

Good match. The usual Hero deal.

Watched: Ethan Carter III/Drew Galloway vs. Johnny Gargano/TJP Unsanctioned Street Fight Evolve 62 6/10/16

Good match.

Watched: Tony Nese vs. Johnny Gargano vs. TJP vs. Drew Gulak vs. Lince Dorado Elimination Evolve 63 6/11/16

Good, but a bit too long with the final matchup.

Watched: Johnny Gargano vs. Cedric Alexander Evolve 64 7/16/16

As far as your typical indy wankfests go, this was better then average. Closer to the fence then you would think in that everything hit cleanly and had a really hot crowd. Still, it was a moves match without that incredible spot that you remember in the end. Slight no.

Watched: Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Jigsaw Evolve 64 7/16/16

Good, but not what I thought it could have been. Mat wrestling was fine, but got good when Zack got pissed and started twisting up Jigsaw. Interesting in Zack’s “off his game storyline”, just not great otherwise.

Watched: Roderick Strong vs. Matt Riddle Evolve 64 7/16/16

Meh. The match wasn’t as clean as it could have been.

Watched: Timothy Thatcher vs. Marty Scurll Evolve 64 7/16/16

Tim was not over here. Some ok mat work, but when you have more striking, Tim can be inconsistent. Marty was not as hammy as usual, but this was match wasn’t that good otherwise.

Watched: Drew Gulak/Tracy Williams vs. Drew Galloway/Dustin Chuck Taylor Evolve 64 7/16/16

Good efficient tag. This was pretty much a series of small control sections and went at a neat pace. Former Chuck Taylor fit in really well with his more serious role.

Watched: Marty Scurll vs Matt Riddle Evolve 65 7/17/16

Good match. Helped that it didn’t overstay its welcome.

Watched: Timothy Thatcher vs. TJ Perkins Evolve 65 7/17/16

Good match. Match was kept simple outside of the early brawl with TJ going after the arm. A roll up finish prevents me from listing it as I didn’t think it fit.

Watched: Drew Galloway vs Johnny Gargano Evolve 65 7/17/16

Good grudge match. Wasn’t as consistently urgent as it could have been, but I liked it.

Terrible.

Watched: ACH vs Tatsuya Naito ROH War of the Worlds Tour: New York City 5/14/2016

Watched: Roderick Strong/Jay Lethal vs. Adam Cole/Matt Jackson vs. Tomohiro Ishii/Kazuchika Okada ROH War of the Worlds Tour: New York City 5/14/2016

Wasn’t feeling it at first, but got quite good in the end.

Watched: Kyle O’Reilly vs Kamaitachi ROH Best in the World 2016 6/24/16

Good for some of it. Kama selling was way better the Kyle’s.

Watched: Mark Briscoe vs Roderick Strong ROH Best in the World 2016 6/24/16

This was…not good. Sad, because this may well be one of Rod’s last matches in ROH, but it just lacked heat.

Watched: Steve Corino vs. BJ Whitmer Unsanctioned Fight without Honor ROH Best in the World 2016 6/24/16

This took a while to get going, but actually got somewhat awesome when Steve hit BJ with a beer bottle. If they cut most of the first half off, I could have seen listing this, but it was too much asking those two to fill real time.

Watched: AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens WWE Raw 5/23/16

Good match, but not as hot as it could have been.

Watched: Sami Zayn/Dean Ambrose/Cesaro vs Alberto Del Rio/Chris Jericho/Kevin Owens WWE Raw 5/30/16

Good sequence in the end, but mediocre other wise.

Watched: Antonio Cesaro vs Chris Jericho WWE Raw 6/6/16

Screw it, I’ll call it good. I dug Cesaro countering every Jericho staple into an uppercut.

Listed: American Alpha vs. Revival WWE NXT Takeover: The End 6/8/16

This was every bit as sweet as the first match. I love these guys doing newer versions of the southern tag formula and it just feels like a breath of fresh air. No botch like the last match, but some stuff could have looked better in the end. All there matches might be top 20 by the end of the year, but I need to reshuffle at some point. I’ll stick it at #18 for now.

Watched: Austin Aries vs Shinsuke Nakamura WWE NXT Takeover: The End 6/8/16

Fine match that got good by the end. The leg selling didn’t bother me because it wasn’t a prime focus, but most of the other pedestrian stuff did however.

Watched: Asuka vs. Nia Jax WWE NXT Takeover: The End 6/8/16

Good match. Asuka wore down Nia with submissions and used her strikes to put her down. Did sort of feel like an out of nowhere finish if I have to be honest.

Watched: Samoa Joe vs Finn Balor Cage Match WWE NXT Takeover: The End 6/8/16

Good I guess. This felt like the typical WWE cage match at this point.

Watched: John Cena vs AJ Styles WWE Money in the Bank 2016 6/19/16

Yuck. AJ was AJ and made it work as well as he could have. But god Cena, between the ring rust and maybe getting knocked loopy on a forearm had some of the worst spot calling I have ever seen. Fuck this.

Watched: Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn vs. Cesaro vs. Alberto Del Rio Ladder Match WWE Money in the Bank 2016 6/19/16

Felt like a second rate version of the four way from last month and the usual MITB we always get these days.

Watched: Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins WWE Money in the Bank 2016 6/19/16

It was ok. Weird to go in the direction with Seth being controlled. Neither performance lit me up frankly.

Watched: Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns WWE Raw 6/20/16

Took the more normal approach and was better. Better crowd, but I don’t know I would call it good.

Watched: Alberto Del Rio vs Cesaro WWE Smackdown 6/23/16

OK short match.

Watched: Sami Zayn vs Seth Rollins WWE Smackdown 6/23/16

This was hot garbage.

Watched: AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose WWE Raw 6/27/16

This on the other hand was good. Nice leg selling from Ambrose down the stretch. Just wish it was longer.

Watched: Seth Rollins vs Dolph Ziggler WWE Raw 7/4/16

Good short match. These two always seem to match up well.

Listed: Revival vs. American Alpha 2/3 Falls WWE NXT 7/6/16

Not the great match it could have been, but still very good. This was more about Revival control where they go after Jordan’s leg and just generally beat the piss out of Gable. Your mileage may vary on the leg selling. Jordan did sell during control and on the apron, not at all during the comeback (although Gable’s control section did go a while), and then one of the falls was to a leg submission. Crowd also could have been hotter at points. I’ll put it at #20 for now.

Watched: Chris Jericho vs Sami Zayn WWE Smackdown 7/7/16

Took a while to get good.

Watched: Kevin Owens vs Cesaro WWE Raw 7/11/16

Good, but they have done so much better.

Watched: Finn Balor vs Shinsuke Nakamura WWE NXT 7/13/16

There’s a good match in there somewhere, if only Finn was not stupid enough to go after the leg. Good stuff was in there, it just needed to not have that story.

Watched: Kota Ibushi vs. Sean Maluta WWE Cruiserweight Classic 7/13/16

Decent, maybe good carry job by Kota.

Watched: Kevin Owens/Chris Jericho vs Sami Zayn/Cesaro WWE Raw 7/18/16

Too short to be anything more.

Watched: Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins WWE Smackdown 7/19/16

OK, but it’s not like it matters much since they have a match Sunday.

Watched: American Alpha vs Authors of Pain WWE NXT 7/20/16

Alpha did really damn good to make the Authors into something. Authors have upside, but it will take sometime before light bulb goes off.

Watched: Bayley vs Nia Jax WWE NXT 7/20/16

Wasn’t as good as there last match, but perfectly fine.

Watched: Lince Dorado vs Mustafa Ali WWE Cruiserweight Classic 7/20/16

Listed: Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens WWE Battleground 7/24/16

After the somewhat status quo start and a botch they recovered well from, this was very good. They went more along the lines of a big moves grudge match and because of the people in it, it was executed about as well as you could hope in the stretch run. After some shuffling, #12.

Watched: Natalya vs Becky Lynch WWE Battleground 7/24/16

Did about as well as they could have after the last match.

Watched: AJ Styles/Karl Anderson/Luke Gallows vs John Cena/Enzo Amore/Colin Cassidy WWE Battleground 7/24/16

Good match.

Watched: Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns WWE Battleground 7/24/16

Good. Outside of the Shield reunion stuff, these 3 ways have been executed better.

Watched: Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks WWE Raw 7/25/16

Good emotional match, but not the cleanest.

Watched: Finn Balor vs. Roman Reigns WWE Raw 7/25/16

Damn good for 10. Did well in establishing Roman as the monster trying to keep his spot and Finn as undersized hot free agent. Closer to a nom then I would have thought, but I can’t pull the trigger.

I’ll say good. Just enough cool stuff to compensate for Cage’s weak punching.

Watched: Ivelisse/Son of Havoc/Angelico vs. Rey Mysterio Jr./Dragon Azteca Jr./Prince Puma vs. The Crew/Joey Ryan vs. Jack Evans/P.J. Black/Fenix Lucha Underground 4/27/16

Last pairing was best and probably could be listable, but the other stuff was business as usual.

Watched: Cedric Alexander vs. TJP Evolve 66 8/19/16

Good, but some miscommunication hampers it.

Watched: Peter Kaasa/Jigsaw vs. Tracy Williams/Fred Yehi Evolve 66 8/19/16

Alright, Peter looks different, but still has issues with showing fire.

Watched: Tony Nese vs. Drew Gulak Evolve 66 8/19/16

Didn’t really get the hype about this. Tony may be getting a little better, but the matches continue to do nothing for me.

Watched: Timothy Thatcher vs. Matt Riddle No Holds Barred Evolve 66 8/19/16

Worked well within the story they had, but not great. Good, but there have been better matches of its ilk.

Watched: Zack Sabre Jr. vs Cody Rhodes Evolve 66 8/19/16

Match of the Night, but not quite there. I thought it was a Zack carry job in my opinion. I didn’t buy the fact that Cody’s little bit of leg work was enough for a tapout considering how Zack wrecked his arm.

Watched: Tommy End vs. Matt Riddle Evolve 67 8/20/16

Good match. Probably would have been better if there wasn’t a light shining in my face.

Watched: Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Cedric Alexander Evolve 67 8/20/16

Good, but I’m not convinced it’s a MOTYC or anything. Zack played it more arrogant and heelish here. Not quite enough fireworks here to list here.

Watched: Cody Rhodes vs. Chris Hero Evolve 67 8/20/16

Usual good affair from Hero with a better Cody performance.

Watched: Timothy Thatcher vs. Drew Gulak Evolve 67 8/20/16

This was alright and absolutely not terrible. It’s there usual match with Tim being more heelish during the match until he turns after the match, even though he was justified in doing what he did. I think the issue is that these grapplefuck matches are kind of running together at this point.
